As a native to Athens, Alabama, Jonathan has always loved the outdoors. He believes it derives from his Native American heritage the Cheyenne River Sioux. From an early age waterfowl hunting became his passion and that is where his obsession with the Boykin spaniel and retrievers started. He became a firefighter with the Huntsville Fire Department in 2012 and on his off days began studying dog training from every source he could find. In 2018 he also established Tomahawk Kennels and began training professionally. In 2022 Jonathan retired from the fire department and now training and breeding Boykin spaniels is his full time passion! His goal is to breed and train the most elite Boykin spaniels on the planet!
